WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Seniors Tim Boeni and Grant West took first place finishes in the long jump and hammer throw as the Temple men's track & field team nabbed a fourth place finish at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary Saturday afternoon.
The Owls placed fourth to Rutgers, William & Mary, and Georgetown, beating out the likes of Virginia Tech, Villanova, and Maryland.
Boeni nailed a leap of 7.61m for meet-best honors. Also competing in the long jump was junior Miles Dryden, who placed fourth jumping 7.10m.
West led the field in the hammer throw with a toss of 57.58, followed by teammates Bob Keogh (2nd, 56.17) and Bryce Buffaloe (3rd, 55.45).
Also in the field, senior Josue Louis tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.99m. Junior Chris Durante led Temple with a seventh place finish in javelin with a heave of 58.49m.
On the track, sophomore Emmanuel Freeland cruised to a second place finish in the 100m (10.77), and scored points with a sixth place finish in the 200m (21.93).
In the 3,000m steeplechase, sophomore Travis Mahoney bested the school record by over a second, running a time of 9:15.58.
Junior Mike May ran the 10,000m for the Owls, clocking in at 30:33.61 for a fourth place finish.
The men's relay teams also fared well on the day, with the 4x100m team (Dryden, Boeni, Louis, Freeland) placing third in a time of 41.51, and the 4x200m team (Lynch, Pensyl, Duncan, Schiavi) taking sixth in a time of 1:28.87.
Up next for the Owls is the Lou Onesty Invitational, held April 9-10 at the University of Virginia.
