Men's Basketball Players Enjoy International Success

Four Owls play on national teams in Summer 2010
PHILADELPHIA – Two Temple University men's basketball players recently completed competition with their various national teams while a third is still in action and a fourth awaits his chance to play for his country.
Sophomore guard TJ DiLeo recently finished a tour of duty with the German U20 team that participated in the FIBA U20 European Championship Division A held from July 8-18 in Croatia. DiLeo was second on the team with 10.7 points per game while pulling in 2.9 rebounds and dishing 1.8 assists per game over nine contests. He scored a high of 20 points twice, against the Czech Republic and The Netherlands. His game-high 20 versus The Netherlands on July 18 enabled Germany to maintain their Division A status as the Germans prevailed 75-57. The Dutch will drop to Division B.
Freshman guard Aaron Brown played with the US Virgin Islands team in the Centrobasket Championship held in the Dominican Republic from July 5-11. Brown, a product of St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J., placed second on his team in scoring with 12.5 points per game. He also drained eight of 17 from three-point range (47.1%) to rank third in the tournament. Prior to the Centrobasket Championship, he competed at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
Sophomore Carmel Bouchman is still playing on the Israeli U20 team that is competing in the FIBA U20 European Championship Division B being held July 14-24 in Austria.
Last, but far from least, junior Juan Fernandez is currently playing with the Argentinean Senior National Team as they prepare to take part in the FIBA World Championships being held in Turkey from August 28 through September 12. He has been the starting guard for Argentina in U18 and U19 competitions in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
