PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy will throw out the first pitch at this Tuesday's (Sept. 21) Philadelphia Phillies versus the Atlanta Braves game at Citizens Bank Park. Game time is at 7:05 p.m.
Dunphy, who just finished his fourth season as the Owls' coach, earned his first career conference Coach of the Year honor when he was tabbed as the 2010 Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year. He also was named the Eastern College Coach of the Year for the second time in the last three seasons. He was also named the NABC District Coach of the Year.
In 2009-10, he guided the Owls to their third straight A-10 Tournament title and first A-10 regular season championship since 2002. Temple finished with a 29-6 overall mark, the third most wins in school history, and its first national ranking since 2001. Picked tied for fifth in the preseason A-10 poll, the Owls were ranked in the Top 25 in both polls during the final 12 weeks of the season. The #12 final ranking in the Associated Press poll tied for the fifth highest in program history.
Temple opens its 2010-11 season on November 12 against Seton Hall at the Liacouras Center. Season tickets, as low as $12 per game, are on sale now by Calling 215-204-8499. Visit www.OwlsTix.com for complete pricing information.
