Diamond Gems Place Fourth at Nationals for the Second Straight Year

Dancers competed in the pom (4th place) and hip-hop (7th place) categories
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Temple University Diamond Gems Dance Team recently competed in the College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 14-16. Over 85 dance teams from across the nation competed in this prestigious event.
The Diamond Gems competed in the Division 1 Hip Hop Category and Division 1 Pom Category. This is only the second time the Diamond Gems have competed at the national level and the first time they have ever competed in the Pom category. The Gems placed 4th in the pom category and 7th in the Hip Hop category. This competition was the closest it has ever been with only three points separating 1st and 7th place.

Under the direction of coach Megan Teesdale, members of the two nationals routines were: Lacie McGowan, Stepfanie McCaffrey, Katie Bertolet, Erin Johnson, Brittany Lewis, Sarah Stoner, Roneisha
Smith-Davis, Lisa Falcone, Crystal Pizarro, Megan Fry, Megan Pryze, Shanell Robinson, Amanda Brizuela, and Ali Wolf.
The Diamond Gems will continue to be in action at all men's and women's home basketball games for 2010-2011 season.
