Fran Dunphy To Grow Mustache Back as Part of "Movember" Campaign

Men's Basketball coach is one of nine Temple staffers growing facial hair to fight cancer
PHILADELPHIA - The 'Stache is coming back, and for a good reason. Temple University men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy has started the process of growing back his famed mustache as part of SIDEARM Sport's “Movember” (www.movember.com) – A cancer awareness and fundraising campaign based around growing mustaches. Dunphy will be joined by eight other Temple University athletic staff members in this promotion to fight cancer.
"Anytime I can help fight this dreaded disease I will do it," Dunphy said. "This is a great promotion spearheaded by our athletic website provider, SIDEARM Sports, and I am more than happy to lend my name, and facial hair, to the cause."
Dunphy, who had sported a mustache since 1971, shaved his signature 'stache on October 6 to honor former standout player Dionte Christmas, who completed his degree requirements over the summer.
Also participating from Temple in the nationwide "Movember" campaign are Larry Dougherty, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Communications, Harry Metzinger, Assistant Athletic Director for Finance and Administration, Chris Rumer, Regional Director of Corporate Sales, Bakeer Ganes, head volleyball coach, Shawn Cameron, Assistant Athletic Trainer, Dave Mathewson, Assistant Director of Football Operations, Jake Munick, Graduate Extern for Compliance, and Ron Czyzewicz co-owner of 2020 Visual Media, which produces Temple's football and basketball television shows.
SIDEARM Sports will be making a donation for each member of athletic staffs around the country that participate in its "Movember" campaign. The donations will be made to the Movember Foundation, which funds both LIVESTRONG and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
