PHILADELPHIA – Shey Peddy scored a game and season-high 27 points to lead Temple women's basketball in a 73-57 win against Auburn (5-2) on Saturday afternoon, snapping the Owls' five-game losing streak in a big way. Peddy added a game-high five steals along with six rebounds to her impressive point total, which is her career-high while at Temple.

Brittany Lewis scored nine points for the Owls (3-5) as did Victoria Macaulay. Kristen McCarthy scored eight points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Camille Glymph led Auburn with 12 points off the bench, while Tyrese Tanner and Parrisha Simmons scored nine points apiece.

Temple shot 55 percent from the field in the first half, and once the Owls took an 11-9 lead they never looked back. The margin was just one at 17-16 before Peddy and Macaulay combined for 10 points in a 10-2 run that put Temple ahead by nine, 27-18 with 5:16 left in the half.

Just two minutes later a fastbreak layup by Lewis gave the Owls an 11-point lead, but some quick points for the Tigers put the lead down to six.

With an eight-point, 35-27 lead and 1:45 remaining in the half, the Owls closed out on an impressive 10-0 run that included three-pointers from both Tyonna Williams and Lewis in the final 12 seconds.

McCarthy pulled down seven first-half rebounds to lead all players, and Peddy finished the first half with a game-high eight points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field including 2-of-2 from three-point range. Temple's bench contributions were significant in the first half, with the Owls scoring 19 points off the bench compared to Auburn's nine.

Peddy took over the second half almost singlehandedly, scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. After one bucket she stole the ball on Auburn's next possession and promptly scored again, giving the Owls their largest lead to that point at 21, 5-38 with 11:30 remaining.

With just under five minutes left Peddy struck again, hitting a trey, recording a steal and then a fastbreak layup for a 23-point Temple lead, 70-47, which would be its largest of the game.

The Owls used a fast-paced offense to score 16 fast break points compared to six for Auburn, and Temple got 21 points off 16 Auburn turnovers. The Owls finished the game with a season-best shooting percentage of 49.1 (27-of-55) while holding Auburn to 35 percent from the field.

Temple is back in the Liacouras Center on Tuesday night, Dec. 6 at 7:00 p.m. against Kent State.
