Owls post wins over Northwestern, Stanford

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Temple women's fencing team posted a 9-3 record over two days at the Northwestern Duals. The Owls posted wins over host #7 Northwestern and Stanford on day one, with several dominating performance on day two. Freshman Teagan Kilpatrick highlighted the individual results for TU, going a perfect 13-0 in competition.
Temple began day one with an exciting win over Stanford, 19-8. The sabre squad went a perfect 9-0 in the match, with foil going 7-2. The Owls then went on to post a 15-12 win over #7 Northwestern, a 24-3 win over Cal Tech, a 22-5 win over Wayne State, and a 24-3 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. The Owls only losses on the day came at the hands of #10 Ohio State (14-13) and #1 Notre Dame (18-9).
The Owls went 4-1 on day two, with wins over North Carolina (18-9), Cleveland State (25-2), Detroit (26-1) and UC San Diego (21-6). #4 Princeton edged the Owls for the lone loss on the day, 11-16.
Three Temple fencers went 3-0 against ranked opponents. Junior Kamali Thompson was perfect against against Northwestern in sabre, freshman Epiphany Georges went undefeated against Ohio State in foil and senior Alyssa Lombardi did not lose to Princeton in epee.
The Temple women's fencing team is in action next when they travel to the Steven's Invitational held on February 13. The Owls return on February 27 for a home meet.
