Lavoy Allen Earns Invitations To NABC All-Star Game & Portsmouth Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – Temple senior forward Lavoy Allen has been invited to participate in the NABC?All-Star game that will take place on Friday, April 1 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Allen has also been invited to take part in the 2011 Portsmouth Invitational, held April 6-9 in Portsmouth, Va.

Allen, who is Temple's all-time rebound leader (1,103) and ranks 27th on the all-time scoring list with 1,380 points, leads the Owls and ranks fourth in the A-10 with an 8.2 rebound average. He also tops the team and ranks fourth in the league in blocks per game (1.8 bpg.) while placing second on the squad with an 11.8 scoring average.

Named first team all-conference for the second straight season and to the league's all-defensive team for the third time, Allen has averaged 17.6 points and 14 rebounds over the last five games. Allen's surge coincides with the injuries to starters Michael Eric and Scootie Randall. Eric is out for the season with a fractured right patella while Randall (right foot)?is questionable for the tournament.

The Owls (24-6, 14-2 in Atlantic 10) are the #2-seed in the A-10 Championship and open play Friday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City against #10-seed La Salle. Tip time Friday is 6:30 p.m. (The Comcast Network/1210 AM WPHT).
