Owls have four seniors to be honored: Jen Homka, Alex Shapiro, Nicholle St. Pierre and Ann Stouffer
PHILADELPHIA - The Temple lacrosse team will honor four seniors and celebrate Friends of Jaclyn Week at its final regular season home game on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. vs. St. Bonaventure. The Owls have three games remaining on the schedule, and will first travel to Duquesne on Friday for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
Jennifer Homka, Nicholle St. Pierre, Alex Shapiro and Ann Stouffer will be playing in their final regular season home game on Sunday. The four will be honored prior to the announcement of the starting lineups.
The Owls are still looking to earn a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be hosted on their own Geasey Field on April 29 and May 1. Temple is currently 2-2 in A-10 play and tied for third among eight teams. Four will earn a berth in the championships.
Temple is also celebrating Friends of Jaclyn (FOJ) Week, and will have special guests Lily Adkins and her family in attendance.
FOJ is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families. Through the “Adopt-a-Child” program, FOJ creates lasting relationships between children battling pediatric brain tumors and athletic teams. The child becomes an honorary team member, gaining a new group of friends, and the team gets inspiration from the child. Temple is a huge supporter of FOJ.
Five-year old Lily Adkins was “adopted” by the Owls a year ago through FOJ, and was the second adoption the team has made through the program. Devon Lam, daughter of Danny and Angela Lam, was the team's first adopted sister who sadly lost her battle with cancer in December, 2008. Lily is a survivor of an ependymoma brain tumor and has been doing well for a few years, since the discovery and initial treatment of her tumor when she was 14 months old. Her parents Mike and Trish are Temple alums, and Lily also has a younger sister, Chloe.
