Box Score

NEWARK, Del.
- It took a high output day from the offense to propel the Temple baseball team past Delaware, 12-10, on Wednesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.  Temple has now won two-straight games to improve to 23-24 overall on the year and pick up some much needed momentum heading into a home weekend against Saint Joseph's.

Senior Byron McKoy led the offense going four-for-five with a pair of runs scored, while redshirt-junior Steve Nikorak knocked in three runs on two-for-four hitting.  One of Nikorak's two hits in the game was a double, giving him 22 on the year which ties the Temple single-season record.  Freshman Will Remillard and senior Ben Flanary each drove in a pair of runs in the game.

Freshman Phil Gianakos got the Owls through 3.1 innings before being relieved by freshman Ryan Kuehn (1.2 IP).  Junior Tyler Horst earned the win throwing the next two frames, while redshirt-sophomore Steve Visnic picked up his third save of the year with two shutout innings to close the game.

The Owls took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second, capitalizing on a pair of misplays by the Blue Hens which helped extend the inning.  Sophomore Daniel Dragos led off the frame with a triple into right, scoring on a groundout by junior Cameron Green.  Junior Jabair Khan singled to right to keep things going, moving to third on the play on an error by the right fielder and scoring on a wild pitch.  Flanary reached base on an error and moved to second on a single by sophomore Elijah Yarborough.  An RBI-single by McKoy sent Flanary home.

Delaware (26-24) picked up two runs in the bottom of the frame, but Temple erased the damage done with a pair of runs in the top of the third.  Nikorak hit a one-out single to left to start the rally, with walks to Green and Khan loading the bases.  Flanary punched a single into center which plated Green and Nikorak for a 5-2 Temple lead.

Two more in the fourth pushed the Owls' lead to 7-2.  A single to left by McKoy led off the inning, with the Charlotte, N.C., native scoring all the way from first on a double to center by Nikorak.  Dragos singled down the right field line to score Nikorak for the final runs of the inning for TU.

The Blue Hens made a game of it and posted six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take their only lead of the game at 8-7.  Temple tied the game up in the top of the fifth, as Yarborough walked and stole second, eventually plating on an RBI-single by Perez.

After a scoreless sixth for both sides, the Owls regained the lead with a three-run seventh.  Three consecutive singles by McKoy, Perez and Ferguson loaded the bases, with a sacrifice fly by Nikorak plating one.  Remillard dug in and ripped a single through the left side that plated two, putting the score at 11-7.

The Owls were able to pick another one up in the eighth, as the Temple hitters again loaded the bases and Nikorak drew a walk to bring a run home.  Two more in the bottom of the eighth would be all Delaware could get out of the Owls, bringing the final score to 12-10.

Up next, Temple hosts Saint Joseph's for a three-game set beginning May 13 to close out weekend action Skip Wilson Field.
