Temple freshman earns second weekly honor from conference
PHILADELPHIA – Temple University redshirt freshman forward Anthony Lee was named the Atlantic 10 Conference co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 1. It is the second honor of the season for Lee, who is the first Temple rookie to be named A10 Rookie of the Week since Mark Tyndale earned the honor three times during the 2004-05 season, the last on February 5, 2005. He shares the honor with Rhode Island freshman Mike Powell.
The 6-9 Columbia, Md. native (West Oak Academy (Fla.)) averaged 8.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 2-0 week for the Owls. He grabbed eight rebounds and scored five points, including the game-winner with 0.3 seconds left in overtime, to help Temple defeat Buffalo, 87-85 on December 28. In a 6-63 win at Delaware on Dec. 30, he scored a career-high 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Lee, who averages 5.5 points per game, tops Temple in blocks for the season with 16 and ranks second on the team and sixth in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding with a 6.8 average.
