NORMAL, Ill.—
Fourth-year competitors Katie Canning and Corrine Williams placed first and second, respectively, in all around at Friday night's quad-meet at Illnois State University, as they Temple women's gymnastics squad took third place overall in the four-squad meet with their total score of 190.250.

Host Illinois State won the competition with a very impressive score of 193.625, while Seattle Pacific posted a 191.600. The University of Wisconsin-Stout rounded out the scoring with its fourth-place total of 178.625.

The Owls started the meet on the floor, where Williams led all event participants with her top score of 9.825.  Canning and Sylvie Borschel both carded like scores of 9.600 on the mat, to tie for second on the team.

Canning's count of 9.825 on the vault is one that went a long way in the meet, as it was the event's top score by an individual.

Junior Jasmine Johnson placed second on the team (9.650), which was just ahead of Borschel in third place (9.625).

Williams put up a very strong performance on the uneven parallel bars with her third place score of 9.725. Canning came in second for the Owls with her earned total of 9.600, as Ebone Grant was a third-place finisher for Temple with her score of 9.500.

In their last event, Temple was propelled to a first place finish on the beam, as it combined for a total of 48.325 on the apparatus. Canning put a cap on her night with the event's top score of 9.775. Borschel continued to have a solid meet all the way up to her final event, as she placed second on the team, earning a score of 9.675. Williams rounded out her all-around total with Temple's third-best score of 9.650 on the apparatus.

Up next for the Owls, they'll head to the University of North Carolina to go head-to-head with the Tar Heels on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
