-Temple Fencing competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Tournament on Saturday at Lafayette College in Easton, PA.  The Owls had the maximum twelve athletes participating across three weapons.

Leading the way for the Cherry and White was Alyssa Lomuscio, who placed 6th in foil.  Joining Lomuscio as finalists in foil were Teagan Kilpatrick (9th) and Mikayla Varadi (10th).  Epiphany Georges narrowly missed the finals, placing 13th in the weapon.

The sabre squad was led by senior Kamali Thompson, who recorded a 9th place finish.  Tiki Kastor was a semi-finalist, finishing 16th.  Tasia Ford (20th), Lauren Rangel-Friendman (28th), and Andrea Haley (34th) also participated in the event.

Chantal Montrose (11th) advanced to the final round in epee.  Jillian Bratton (13th) fell just short in the semi-final round.  Kimberly Howell (25th) joined Montrose and Bratton in the competition.

The regional tournament represents 60 percent of the selection criteria for the NCAA National Championships to be held March 22-25 at Ohio State University.  Season-long performance in dual meets forms the remaining 40 percent.

The NCAA Fencing Committee will officially announce the finals field of 24 athletes per weapon on Wednesday, March 14.
