The Owls are coming off a weekend sweep to the now-No. 30 Saint Louis Billikens in their conference season debut. If you haven't heard by now, on Saturday freshman lefthanded pitcher Patrick Peterson came within three outs of claiming Temple's first no-run, no-hit ballgame in over 30 years. In a long relief appearance against La Salle at home on March 13, Peterson went 6.0 innings and had a superb outing, allowing just one run on three hits, while striking out five. Againt Longwood, he struck out a career-high six batters in just 2.2 innings of work.
Redshirt junior Matt Elko comes into the game having a hit in nine of the last 10 games. Temple looks to break a three-game losing streak and improve to 6-3 at Skip Wilson Field.
St. Joe's is on a roll after winning the final two games of its weekend series at its new home field against the Bucknell Bison. With a two-game winning streak on their hands, the Hawks now look to extend it and win their first road game of the season when they take on the Owls.
