DES MOINES, Iowa— Senior distance runner Travis Mahoney goes up against the nation's top competitors on Thursday evening at 8:25 p.m. ET , as he will take part in the semifinals of the men's 3000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Championships being held on the Jim Duncan Track at Drake University. Mahoney, the school's record-holder for the fastest finish time in the event, placed ninth in the regional down in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 25 with a season-best time of 8:40.00.
A year ago, the Old Bridge, N.J. native was a Second Team All-American after placing 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a finish time of 8:52.54.
Should he qualify for the finals again this year, Mahoney will race Saturday at 12:52 p.m.
