7.11.12 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that they have re-signed former Temple great Lavoy Allen. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Allen, a 6-9, 225-pound forward, was the 50th overall pick by Philadelphia in the 2011 NBA Draft. In 41 games with 15 starts last season, he averaged 4.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game while shooting 47.3% from the floor and 78.6% from the line. He scored 10-plus points four times in the playoffs after doing so four times during the regular season. Allen had 12 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting in Game 5 at Boston during the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
In other news, three former Owls are competing with NBA teams in summer leagues. Dionte Christmas, who scored 2,043 points in his stellar career at Temple (2006-09), is playing for the Boston Celtics while recent graduates Ramone Moore and Micheal Eric are on the summer rosters for Chicago and Cleveland, respectively.
Christmas has helped the Celtics to a perfect 3-0 record in the Orlando league, which opened play on July 9. He has started all three games, scoring 10 points in each contest.
Moore and Eric will compete in the Las Vegas league that begins play on July 13.
