PHILADELPHIA – Temple University graduate student T.J. DiLeo has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District men's basketball team.  The five-man team, encompassing NCAA Division I schools from the  states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Kentucky, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland as well as the District of Columbia, is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  All district team members will be put on the national ballot with the Capital One Academic All-America teams to be announced on February 21.

DiLeo, a native of Cinnaminson, NJ (Cinnaminson HS), is Temple's top perimeter defender according to head coach Fran Dunphy.  One of the top reserves for the Owls, the 6-3 guard averages 3.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 19.5 minutes per game.  He recently set new career highs with 11 points and four assists in an 81-78 loss to St. Bonaventure (1/23).

Making his first start of the season and second of his career at #9/9 Butler, the 2011 graduate suffered a sprained ankle in the third minute of the contest.  He missed the Owls' last game, a 71-64 win over Richmond Wednesday, and is questionable for Saturday's meeting at Saint Joseph's.

DiLeo is currently pursuing a master's degree in marketing and has earned a 3.81 cumulative grade point average.  He is also following in his father's footsteps, as Tony DiLeo, the Philadelphia 76ers general manager, was a first team Academic All-American in 1977 while playing basketball for La Salle University.
