NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – A month-long hiatus since running its first indoor meet of the season, Temple Track and Field got back to work this weekend, as it competed at the Rutgers Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Rutgers Bubble. In what was a weekend filled with solid performances from the team as a whole against the host Scarlet Knights and Fordham, sophomore Cullen Davis had the highlight performance for the Owls with his title in the one mile run, clocking in with a time of 4:29.39. In a collective effort in the 4x400 relay, the Owls' 'A' squad, which was comprised of Damian Myers, Lionel Wilson, Blair Alston and Gabe Pickett hauled in a first place time of 3:25.15.

“This was a very good meet for us,” head coach Eric Mobley said. “We had solid performances from everyone and I was satisfied with everyone's effort. This was a great way to return from the holiday break and now that we have this meet under us now, we're ready get back to work and show how well we can perform.”

Sophomore Matt Kacyon took part in the 3000 meter run and came within striking distance of setting a new personal  best. His time of 8:47.69 was quick enough to place him third overall in the event.

Getting Saturday's track events started, senior Damian Myers posted a strong second place time in the 60 meter dash, finishing in 7.15.
Junior Lionel Wilson broke for a fourth place finish in the 500 meter run with a time of 1:06.25.

Taking part in the high jump, sophomore Darryl McDuffie put up an effort that earned him in a four-way tie for first place with three Rutgers' competitors. McDuffie landed a mark of 2.00 meters to earn him a share of the event title.

Next up for the Owls, it will be a meet at the 168th St.  Armory for the Gotham Cup on Jan. 11.
