Fencing's Petra Khan Places 16th in Sabre at the 2013 November North American Cup

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sophomore fencer Petra Khan placed an impressive 16th of over 120 competitiors in Division I Women's Sabre at the 2013 North American Cup (NAC). The event is on its third day of four, taking place from Nov. 8-11 at the Cleveland Convention Center.
Khan's finish is the highest of the weekend so far for Temple. The NAC is a national fencing competition and counts toward each fencer's national ranking. Two days ago, Khan had competed in the junior women's sabre event and tied for 62nd.
Senior Tasia Ford, the Owls' team captain, was close behind Khan. She placed 23rd in sabre to give Temple two top-25 finishers in the event. Junior Tiki Kastor placed 74th, junior Lauren Rangel-Friedman finished 99th, and senior Andrea Haley placed 108th. Former All-American fencer for the Owls, Kamali Thompson, placed 38th.
In Saturday's Division I epee competition, senior Chantal Montrose placed 56th. Sophomore Jessica Hall was 79th, senior Kimberly Howell placed 93rd, freshman Rachael Clark placed 135th, and freshman Noelle Baptiste placed 140th.
On the opening day in women's foil, senior Epiphany Georges was the team's top finisher in 40th. Sophomore Fatima Largaespada placed 60th, freshman Miranda Litzinger placed 68th, sophomore Demi Antipas placed 73rd and freshman Kristen Kemnitzer tied for 111th.
In the junior women's foil event, Largaespada had a strong showing, tying for 26th. Litzinger placed 66th and Kemnitzer tied for 98th.
