KINGSTON, R.I.— Sophomore Margo Britton has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Outstanding Field Performer of the Year. In the second day of competition at the A-10 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, Britton threw for a mark of 15.19 meters in the shot put, which was far enough for her to repeat as the conference champion in the event. The York, Pa. native, who was the 2012 A-10 Rookie of the Year, now has three conference shot put championship titles in her two-year career, having two indoor and one outdoor.
As a team, the Owls scored 52 points for eighth place in the two-day meet. Charlotte, who broke two A-10 records in the process, was crowned with the 2013 A-10 Indoor Championship at Rhode Island's Mackal Field House, having 142.50 total points through 20 scored events.
Also competing for Temple in the final day of action at Rhode Island's Mackal Fieldhouse, sophomore Michelle Davis Timothy finished strong in the 400m dash, where her seventh place ranking (57.40) was worth four points toward her team's total. Before the meet concluded, Davis Timothy joined seniors Tessa West, Jade Wilson and freshman Demeshia Davis in the 4x400 meter relay, where the four combined for a time of 3:52.92 to take fifth place and pick up another four points.
Senior Isatta Kenneh was a key contributor to the team as well, with her seventh place finish in the 60m dash (7.82), which earned her two points.
Sophomore Kiersten LaRoche aided her team's effort by earning a point with her eighth place mark (11.70m) in the triple jump. LaRoche also competed in the high jump finals, where her mark of 1.55m ranked 19th in the competition.
Freshman Jamila Janneh, who was competing in her first conference championship meet also took part in the high jump, where she posted a 14th place mark with her jump of 1.60m. In the triple jump she had an even more impressive result, as she came in 10th place (11.41m).
Also scoring for the Owls, junior Anna Pavone finished eighth in the one mile run with her time of 5:06.29 to earn a point for her teammates.
Pavone later helped Temple to a strong performance in the 4x800 meter relay, as she joined senior Sheina Roberts, junior Jenna Dubrow and senior Tonney Smith, who combined for a 10th place finish (9:32.46).
From here, Temple's ECAC Championship qualifiers will travel to Boston University for a meet in two weeks (March 1-3).
