Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA  – Temple University senior Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson has been named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, for the week ending February 24. The Chester, Pa. native (Chester HS) earns his first weekly honor of his career.

Hollis-Jefferson set new career highs in points (23) and rebounds (18) in leading Temple to an 82-74 win over La Salle and helping Owls share the Big 5 title with the Explorers on February 21. The 6-6 forward shot 9-of-14 from the field and dished a game-high five assists in the game.  His 18 rebounds were the most by an Owl this season and tied the Liacouras Center mark. At Charlotte on February 24 he scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, dished three assists, tied his career high with three blocks and made a game-high three steals in a 71-51 win.

For the week, he averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. He shot 12-of-21 from the field (57.1%) and 7-10 from line (70%).

Temple (19-8, 8-5 A10) hosts Detroit (18-10, 10-4 Horizon) Thursday at the Liacouras Center (7:00 pm/ESPN3/1210 AM WPHT).
