NORFOLK, Va.—Temple Baseball heads to the state of Virginia for the second straight weekend, where it will take on Old Dominion in Norfolk. The Owls are coming off last weekend's impressive performance in Blacksburg, Va., which was highlighted by their win over No. 24 Virginia Tech, marking the first win over a ranked opponent since 2008. It is also believed to be the first win over a ranked non-conference opponent since 1981.  TU opens the three-game weekend series on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Complex.

Temple (2-3) looks to win another weekend series after taking the game from Virginia Tech and then splitting a doubleheader with Holy Cross.  Twill look to keep their offensive explosion going after scoring six runs in every game last weekend.  Old Dominion is 2-3 after losing two of three games against Rutgers.

Sophomores Nick Lustrino and Eric Peterson were two of the standouts last weekend and both will be looking to carry their solid performances from last weekend.  Lustrino leads the team in hitting with a .529 batting average after going 6-11 in the previous weekend series.  The shortstop from Spring Lake, N.J. had his best game in the first game against Holy Cross, as he went 4-for-5, including a big hit in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a single with the bases loaded to tie the game at 12.  His efforts were good enough to earn him the A-10 co-Player of the Week honor with Charlotte's Shane Basen.

Peterson earned Big 5 Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24 as he picked up Temple's first win of the season, a 7-3 upset over the No. 24 Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg, Va.  Peterson was called out of the bullpen in the sixth inning with two outs and the game tied.  He pitched lights out as he went on to pitch the final 3.1 innings to seal the victory for the Owls.  He allowed just one run on three hits, while striking out two of the 12 batters he faced.

On the mound in the upcoming series, senior Dan Moller, junior Matt Hockenberry and sophomore Patrick Peterson in the three game set.  Moller will look to carry over his strong effort against Virginia Tech, as will Hockenberrry who pitched well against Holy Cross going 6.0 innings while striking out six batters.  Peterson will go out and try to rebound after his rough outing the second game of the doubleheader against Holy Cross, in which he allowed five runs through 4.0 innings.

Old Dominion has two strong pitchers that Temple will be sure to face in Ryan Yarbrough (1-0) and Dean Ali (0-1).  Yarbrough has a 2.31 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched thus far while striking out nine batters.  Ali has recorded a 1.00 ERA in nine innings of work striking out 12 batters.

On the offensive side of the ball, ODU will to Connor Myers and Austin McGowan to keep their strong starts going.  Myers is hitting .400 on the year leading the team with six hits thus far.  McGowan is hitting .364 (4-11) with a double on the season.  Michael Perez has hit the only homerun on the season for the Monarchs adding five RBI's recording a .700 slugging percentage.
