Women's T&F 4x100 Meter Relay Team Claims First Place At Danny Curran Invite

CHESTER, Pa.—Temple Track & Field took part at the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday at Widener University. The top performance for the Owls' women's side was in the 4x100m relay which saw senior Crystal Herclules, junior Shaneae Bailey, junior Gennie Depass and senior Dia Dorsey combine for a first place finish with a time of 48.16.
The 400m race saw sophomore Hollis Coleman place eighth overall with a personal best time of 1:00.39. Coleman was followed by Depass who placed 11th overall (1:01.31).
Junior Gennie Depass finished first in her heat and sixth overall in the 200m race with her time of 26.30s. Depass was followed by senior Crystal Hercules who finished in eighth place overall with a time of 26.37.
In a heavily represented 100m race, sophomore Shenae Bailey finished first in her heat and second overall with a time of 12.51s. Bailey also competed in the 200m race where she finished in 7th overall with a time of 26.36. Dorsey also competed in the 200m race finishing first in her heat and fourth overall (26.22).
Sophomore Kaitlyn McSurdy finished third in the 400m hurdles with her time of 1:06.77.
Freshman Jamila Janneh had a strong outing in the field events. Janneh finished third in the triple jump with a 11.11m jump. She finished fourth overall in the high jump with a 1.57m jump, and fourth in the long jump with a jump of 5.11.
The discus saw freshman Alexis Kennedy place second with a throw of 35.94m. Kennedy also placed third in the hammer throw, throwing 37.73m.
After a strong finish in the Danny Curran Invitational, several of the women will compete in competition at the Texas relays tomorrow, while the rest of the women will compete in the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University next weekend.
