STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Coming off a career-best all around performance last weekend at West Virginia, senior Jean Alban had another solid showing in all four events on Saturday in Temple Women's Gymnastics meet at Penn State. Behind the ECAC Gymnast of the Week's 38.350 all around score, the Owls totaled a score of 189.650 in the quad meet. Host Penn State put on a flawless demonstration, as it claimed the meet title with its team score of 196.975 to outdo New Hampshire (194.225) and Penn (193.000).

Temple's best team effort came in the floor exercise where it placed third among the four teams with a score of 47.825.
Sophomore Stephanie Verry carried the Owls in the event, as she gave a consistent performance to earn an impressive score of 9.800. Verry's score ranked sixth among all gymnasts competing in the event.

Floor exercise specialist Margaret Walch placed second in the Owls' lineup with her score of 9.700, while junior Brittanie DeMeno, who also competed in the all-around and totaled a 38.070, had her highest score in the event, earning a 9.650.

From there, the Owls went to the vault, where they were again led by Verry, who was tabbed with a team-high 9.650. Classmate Alexis Arena earned Temple's second-highest score on the apparatus and her best mark of the day with her vault score of 9.525. Alban led off the lineup and earned 9.475 points toward her all-around score.

In what has been its best event over the course of the season, the Owls had their struggles on the balance beam on Saturday, as they registered a season-low score of 46.825. On the upside, Alban turned in a 9.775, which was her highest score among all four events she competed in. Her beam score was also the highest in the Temple lineup. DeMeno had a solid routine in her performance on the apparatus, as she earned a 9.625.

On bars, Temple was led by sophomore Natali Ruzich, who was given a 9.725 for her effort. Ruzich's performance earned her sixth place among all participants in the event, which had her only .100 of the event champ (PSU's Krystal Welsh, 9.825). Alban followed with a 9.575 to place as TU's second-best performer in the event, while freshman Tara Kilkenny delivered a strong routine, scoring a 9.500.

Temple, now 4-21 on the year, will prepare for its final regular season meet, which will come next Sunday (March 17) when the Owls go to William & Mary to compete against The Tribe and Yale at 1:00 p.m.
