Izewski Wins 10K Run At Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – In the opening day of competition at the Widener Invitational, freshman Alex Izewski turned in his most impressive performance since transferring to Temple, as he bolted for a first place finish in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 31:45.61 on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore distance runner Cullen Davis also had strong showing in his final tune-up before Penn Relays, as he ran the 5,000 meter run in a fifth place time of 15:57.16. Will Maltin (15:52.61), Owen Glatts (15:59.17) and Ryan Debarberie also completed the event, placing in the order of 23rd, 26th and 34th, respectively.
The opening day of the weekend meet opened with the field events. In the shot put, Elan Jackson claimed ninth place with a toss of 12.09m, ahead of teammate Ryan Maccie who threw for 11.27m (18th place). Maccie also competed in the discus throw, where he set a 16th place mark of 40.10m, which was behind Kyle Davis' seventh place throw of 42.58 meters.
Temple will continue competition at the Widener Invitational on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
