Pavone Places Third In 5K At Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – Temple's women's track and field squad opened competition at the Widener Invitational on Friday afternoon. Junior Anna Pavone led the Owls in the opening day of the two-day meet, as she crossed the finish line of the 5,000 meter run in 17:41.83. Her training partner sophomore Jenna Dubrow came in shortly later with a sixth place time of 17:59.82.
The meet opened with the field events, where freshman Alexis Kennedy turned in a strong mark in the shot put, as she threw for a fifth place mark of 11.82 meters. Kennedy also represented the Owls in the discus throw, where her toss ranked sixth overall (34.72 meters). Senior Jennifer Abercrumbie also placed within the Top 10 of the shot put with a mark of 10.95m for ninth place.
Temple will continue competition at the Widener Invitational on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
