TEMPLE NOTES...
Temple has not played since May 5 when it took a narrow 4-3 loss in extra innings at Richmond. On the year thus far, the Cherry and White are 18-25 and stand just one victory away from matching last year's season win-total.

Senior third baseman Henry Knabe has put distance between himself and junior Derek Peterson for the team lead in hitting. Knabe is batting .354 on the year after having eight more hits during the week of April 29-May 5, including a game-winning double in a 3-for-3 day at Villanova. Knabe, who was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, has a team-high 57 hits on the year and tallied the 100th of his career on that game-winning two-base hit against the Wildcats. Peterson is close behind, having 56 hits, while owning a .316 batting average.

Sophomore twins (LHP) Patrick and (RHP) Eric Peterson will each make starts on the mound on Friday, while redshirt senior (LHP) Dan Moller will take the ball for the final time in his Temple career on Saturday in the season finale and Senior Day game.

Out of the bullpen, redshirt junior Ryan Kuehn has been lights out as of late. Through his last eight relief outings, the Owls' closer has not been charged with a run. Kuehn has converted saves in each of Temple's last two wins. He holds five saves on the year, which ranks him for fourth-most in a season in school history. Redshirt senior Steve Visnic, who is the program's all-time leader in relief appearances is one call out of the bullpen away from becoming Temple's first pitcher in the 85-year history of the program to appear in 100 games.

Prior to Saturday's first pitch, Temple Athletics will recognize the seven seniors: Matt Elko, Henry Knabe, Dan Moller, Jordan Queja, Allen Stiles, Steve Visnic and Elijah Yarborough with a ceremony. Fans are urged to arrive to Skip Wilson Field early.

Temple, who began its membership in the A-10 in 1983, officially joins the American Athletic Conference on July 1. The Owls' baseball program got its participation in the conference underway against Rutgers back on April 2, 1983. Through the 31 seasons it has been a member, Temple has reached the A-10 Tournament 11 times and has three titles (1983, 1984, 2001). The Owls come into their final series as a league member with 278 all-time wins in A-10 play.

#3 2B Jordan Queja
In 2012, he transferred from Monterey Peninsula College and took over the leadoff spot for the Owls, where he had 81 hits in 81 career games as a member of the Cherry & White…In his first season, he started 49 games and had 53 hits, while playing mostly in the outfield...This senior blasted one homerun in each of his two years with the Owls—both coming against La Salle…Coming into this season, he carried over a four-game on-base streak and extended it to 32- straight games before being held off the bases in the series opener at VCU…Before having his senior season come to an abrupt end at Rhode Island, there were only seven games in which he did not reach base in his entire two-year career at Temple

#4 OF Allen Stiles
In 2012, he joined the Owls and worked his way to become the club's everyday left fielder…Last season, he played in 30 games, including 22 starts… His most productive game in a Cherry & White uniform came at UMass last season, where he recorded three RBIs, including the game-tying and game-winning hits…As a senior, he has 39 hits and leads the team in in A-10 games with a .342 batting average.

#9 2B Elijah Yarborough
As a freshman back in 2010, he pounded out a double for his first career hit against Florida Gulf Coast…A year later, he saw an increase in playing time, enabling him to hit .288 as a sophomore…Last season, he slapped 12 doubles, led the A-10 in sacrifice flies, and had his career-best game with 4 runs scored in a 4-for-4 day at home against Central Connecticut State…As a senior and since taking over the starting job at second base at Rhode Island, he is hitting .306, since April 19, helping him boost his season average by 177 points.

#18 DH Matt Elko
After having to take a medical redshirt as a freshman, this senior played just two games over the next two seasons, but in 2012 as a redshirt junior, he earned the everyday starting job at first base, enabling him to play in 48 games…Last season at St. Bonaventure, he knocked in four runs in the opening game of the series and went on to bat 8-for-12 in the series, helping him to A-10 and Big 5 Player of the Week honors…As the team's designated hitter in 2013, he led the Owls to a win in their home opener with a 3-for-4 day and two runs scored against Lafayette.

#23 P Steve Visnic
This right-handed pitcher has made more appearances on the mound than any other pitcher in Temple history. The pitcher known for his sidearm release, set a program record with 28 appearances in his first full season, which tied him for most in the A-10…As a junior, he recorded his longest outing of his career, going 6.2 innings through which he did not give up a run in the win at New Orleans… Once again last season, he led the staff in appearances and put together two separate spans of five straight outings in which he did not allow a run.

#28 3B Henry Knabe
This senior is putting a cap on his tenure with career numbers at the plate, while playing as the Owls' everyday third baseman…After making only 18 starts last season, this player has started 43 times in 2013, through which he owns a team-best .354 batting average…In Temple's come-from-behind win at Villanova back on April 30, this senior went 3-for-3 with three doubles, including the game-winning hit, which was the 100th hit of his career… His consistency continued through that weekend, as he finished the week hitting .571 and slugged .929 with a team-high eight hits and four RBIs to earn Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week honors.

MASSACHUSETTS NOTES...
Massachusetts comes to Ambler looking to halt a six-game losing streak and a seven-game skid in A-10 play. The Minutemen, like the Owls, are not postseason eligible and are closing out their 2013 campaign as well.
Adam Picard leads the UMass offense with a .300 batting average and four home runs. Rob McLam and Ryan Cusick have also contributed to the production, having 49 hits each. Pitcher Dan Stoops owns a 1.85 ERA out of the bullpen through 13 appearances, while Jordan Pace has led the staff with a 3-5 record in nine starts and 16 appearances, through which he owns a 4.25 ERA.

THE SERIES…
The Minutemen hold a slight edge in the all-time series, owning a 45-42-1 record on the Owls. The teams clashed last season in Amherst, where Temple took two-of-three from UMass. Temple won the first two games of the weekend set and nearly pulled off the sweep, but a late rally by the Minutemen forced extra innings and allowed for them to come back and walk off against the Owls with a 5-4 win in the 12th inning. When the Minutemen last visited Skip Wilson Field, which was in 2011, they took the front and backend game of the series. Temple salvaged a win by pulling out a 10-9 win in extra innings.
