5.6.13 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Mark Williams, a 6-8, 235-pound forward out of Montrose Christian High in Rockville, Md., has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Temple University on a men's basketball scholarship.

“We are excited to add this fine young man to the Temple Basketball family," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "Mark comes from a terrific family and a successful high school program in Montrose Christian.  We are looking forward to great things from him in the classroom, on the court and in the community."

Williams, a second team All-Met performer as senior, averaged a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds in leading Montrose to a 19-5 record.  The Richmond Heights, Ohio native, who also led the squad in three-point shooting (40%), was recently named the MVP of the District vs. Suburban all-star game, after scoring 21 points to lead the District team to victory on April 28.  The game was part of the 40th Annual Capital Classic All-Star game.

Williams becomes the third member of Temple's 2013 recruiting class, joining signed players Josh Brown (St Anthony, NJ) and Kyle Green (Camden Catholic).
