Men’s Basketball Schedule Set for Inaugural Season in The American

Schedule
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University men's basketball team faces arguably its toughest schedule in its 116-year history in 2013-14 as the program enters the American Athletic Conference.
“We look forward to our first season in The American, and what on paper is our most challenging schedule to date,” said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. “Our fans will be in for some great basketball with a home schedule featuring Louisville, Memphis, Cincinnati and UConn, as well as non-conference meetings against Villanova, St. Joe's and Texas. This is the start of an exciting new era for Temple Basketball.”
Sixteen of Temple's 30 games will be against opponents that competed in the postseason in 2012-13 with possibly three more postseason foes on the slate once the Charleston Classic schedule is established. Two games with defending National Champion Louisville highlight the slate of NCAA opponents that also includes meetings with Cincinnati (twice), La Salle, Long Island, Memphis (twice) and Villanova as well as possible foes Davidson and New Mexico.
Saint Joseph's (NIT), Houston (CBI), Kent State (CIT) and Texas (CBI) also competed in the 2013 postseason while Massachusetts (NIT) is a possible opponent in the Charleston Classic.
The Liacouras Center will play host to 13 games starting with the home opener against Kent State on November 11. Besides Kent State and Louisville, the Owls will host Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, Memphis, Saint Joseph's and Villanova at their on-campus facility as well as Central Florida, Rutgers, South Florida, SMU and Texas Southern. Texas also is on the home schedule with a December 7 date at the Wells Fargo Center.
Temple, one of just eight schools to compete in the last six NCAA Tournaments, returns eight letterwinners including two starters from the 2012-13 squad that posted a 24-10 record while advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Season ticket deposits are currently being taken by the Temple Ticket Sales Office at 215-204-8499. Season tickets will officially go on sale later this summer.
