Men's Basketball Wins Three of Four Quarters in Scrimmage vs. Montava

MONTAVA, ITALY - It was a long but productive day for the Temple men's basketball team.
The Owls started Day Six of their European trip by changing countries, leaving Monaco in the morning and arriving six hours later in Montava, Italy. Not a normal pregame trip for a NCAA Division I team, but this adventure is anything but normal.
Temple took the floor against the Montava Sting in what would be a scrimmage between two young teams. The Owls, who played everyone similar minutes, won the first three quarters, before falling in the final one to the hosts in front of about 300 fans at the PalaBam arena. There is no final score in a scrimmage format.
The first quarter was the tightest with Temple, starting Josh Brown, Daniel Dingle, Jimmy McDonnell, Dalton Pepper and Mark Williams, edged Mantova, 23-21. The Owls won the second quarter, 31-18, and took the third 21-15. The Sting pleased the partisan crowd with a 25-17 triumph in the final stanza.
Quenton DeCosey led Temple with 18 points while dishing four assists and making three steals. Devontae Watson added a double-double, 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Brown scored 12 points, dished five assists and made four steals.
Williams had a strong game as well, scoring 10 points while pulling down seven rebounds. Anthony Lee and Will Cummings (4 assists) added nine points each while Pepper tallied seven points.
The Owls will take on Liomatic Perugia in Foligno tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. EST. It will be the final game of the trip and will be streamed live on OwlsTV.
