Men's Tennis Crowns Four Singles Champions at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Temple men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Navy Invitational on Sunday, taking on the host team at the USNA Tennis Courts in Annapolis, Md. After playing three non-scoring matches on the weekend, the Owls crowned four flight champions in singles play.
Sophomores Hicham Belkssir, Santiago Canete and Sam Rundle each posted 3-0 records on the weekend, while newcomer Vineet Naran went 2-0. Canete was playing at No. 4 and capped the weekend with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Blake Daniel. Rundle won the fifth flight after a tough 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) match against Krishna Jana to end the day. Belkssir finished an undefeated run at No. 6 with a 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 victory against Alex Gaines, and Naran earned a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 win against Jacob Darrah at No. 8 to claim the title.
In doubles action against the Midshipmen, only Naran and partner Maros Januvka were victorious, taking an 8-6 decision against Darrah and Jana.
TU continues fall play next weekend, competing at the Princeton Invitational on September 13-15.
