Women's Track & Field Earns Four ECAC Qualifying Marks at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - One school record, four ECAC qualifying marks and two top 10 finishes highlighted the Boston University Terrier Invitational for Temple women's track and field, as the Owls had a successful showing at the two-day meet.
"The meet had a tremendous atmosphere," said Temple head coach Eric Mobley. "We saw two American records set. Both teams performed really well both days."
Temple's school record was set early on the first day of competition, as senior Anna Pavone finished 29th in the 3000m run in a time of 10:05.05, breaking the previous record of 10:07.92 set by teammate Jenna Pavone in 2012.
Junior Michelle Davis Timothy came in 20th in the 400m in 56.74, finishing neck-and-neck with freshman Kenya Gaston who placed 21st in 56.97. Both times are ECAC qualifying marks.
Junior Margo Britton's shot put throw of 14.63m was good enough for Temple's best finish of the day, as she took third in the event. While the mark is well over the ECAC standard, it is just slightly shorter than her throw of 14.98 a week ago.
Freshman Bionca St. Fleur placed 26th in the 200m in a personal-best 25.23, followed closely by freshman Jimmia McCluskey who finished 29th in a personal-best 25.29.
McCluskey earned a top 10 finish for Temple, placing sixth in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.72m. In the high jump, sophomore Jamila Janneh placed 13th with her mark of 1.60m.
Sophomore Courtney Mitchell ran a collegiate-best in the 60m dash, placing 25th in 7.99, and junior Kaitlyn McSurdy ran a personal-best time of 1:20.70 to finish 36th in the 500m.
Freshman Rachel Flynn was the Owls' top finisher in the 1000m, placing 32nd in 3:10.59.
