PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's basketball head coach Fran Dunphy announced today the addition of two walk-ons to the 2014-15 Owls squad.
Joining the Owls 2014-15 team will be 6-5, 215-pound junior forward Chima Nwakpuda (wak-PU-dah) and 6-4, 180-pound sophomore guard Mike Robbins.
"Chima and Mike are two fine young men and tremendous additions to the Temple Basketball Family," said Dunphy. "They fit into our program perfectly. They are hard workers and terrific teammates. Looking forward to working with them."
Nwakpuda, a 2012 graduate of The Shipley School, started his career at Millersville, where he appeared in seven games as a reserve during the 2012-13 campaign. The Philadelphia native was a four-time all-conference player at Shipley where he scored over 1,000 career points during his career. He averaged nearly 15.0 points per game as a senior and was named the MVP of Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in December, 2011.
A native of Wynnewood, Pa., Robbins is a 2012 graduate of Lower Merion High. A three-year varsity player. he co-captained his team as a senior, leading the Aces to a 28-4 record. A mid-season injury which sidelined him for a part of his final campaign. During the state semifinals Robbins scored 16 points, shooting eight-of-nine from the field in a win over Cathedral Prep. In the title game, he led his team in scoring, but the Aces fell short in a loss to Chester.
