PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior guard Jesse Morgan has been named the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending December 28. Morgan becomes the first Temple player to earn the honor in the two-year history of the American Athletic Conference.

Morgan, a transfer from UMass who became eligible on Dec. 18,  helped Temple to a pair of wins last week as the Owls knocked off #10/10 Kansas, 77-52, and beat Delaware State, 66-56. The Philadelphia native (Olney HS) averaged 16.0 points and 4.0 assists on the week, including a 17-point, three-assist night in the win against the Jayhawks. Against Delaware State, he had a team-high 15 points and a career-high five assists while committing zero turnovers. .

His long-range shooting was critical in both wins.  The 6-5 guard drained eight of 19 from three-point range, and made all five of his attempts from behind the arc in the second half of the Delaware State win.

He was also named Under Armour OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week.
