Temple travels to No. 4/3 Louisville on Wednesday, Feb. 12 for a 7 p.m. game at the KFC Yum! Center. ESPN3 will televise the game live with Dave Weekley calling the action and Steffi Sorensen providing analysis.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls, under sixth-year head coach Tonya Cardoza, stand 12-11 overall and 6-6 in American Athletic Conference play after a 64-51 win over Memphis on Feb. 9.
After 23 games, freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) is the Owls' leading scorer with 12.8 points and 4.2 assists per game. Senior Natasha Thames (Port Huron, Mich.) follows with 11.2 ppg and a team-best 8.0 rpg. Senior Shi-Heria Shipp (Salisbury, N.C.) adds 9.6 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Junior Tyonna Williams (Fort Washington, Md.) adds 9.5 points and a Conference-best .882 shooting from the free throw line. Sophomore Erica Covile (Detroit, Mich.) averages 8.9 ppg and 5.9 rpg.

The No. 4/3 Cardinals, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Jeff Walz, stand 23-2 overall and 11-1 in American play after an 81-64 loss at No.1 Connecticut on Feb. 9.
Senior guard Shoni Schimmel is the Cardinals' top scorer with 17.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg. Junior forward Sara Hammond follows with 11.6 ppg and 6.4 rpg, while r-senior forward Asia Taylor adds 10.8 ppg and a team-best 6.7 rpg.
SERIES VS. CARDINALS
This is the just the second meeting between Temple and Louisville in women's basketball action. The Cardinals lead 1-0.
In the New Year's Day opener, seventh-ranked Louisville claimed a 77-68 win over Temple at McGonigle Hall. [complete boxscore on p. 45]
Senior Natasha Thames led the Owls with a career-high 24 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Erica Covile followed with 14 points, while sophomore Monaye Merritt came off the bench for a career-high 14 points. Scoring leader-- freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald— was held scoreless.
Asia Taylor led Louisville with 18 points. Shoni Schimmel had 15, while Bria Smith added 13 points. Sara Hammond scored 11 points.
Overall, Louisville out-rebounded Temple, 34-33. Both teams shot 26 percent from the field. While both teams committed at least 20 turnovers, the difference in the game was points off of turnovers; Louisville scored 27 to Temple's 10.
UP NEXT
The Owls return home to Philadelphia on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a rematch with Cincinnati in its annual Play4Kay game. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. at the Liacouras Center.
