Women's Basketball Hosts Cincinnati on Saturday in Play4Kay Game

THIS WEEK
Temple returns home to Philadelphia on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a rematch with Cincinnati in its annual Play4Kay game. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. at the Liacouras Center.
A videostream of the game will air live on OwlSports.com with Ed LeFurge providing play-by-play, and Temple Associate AD/SWA and former coach Kristen Foley providing color commentary.
PLAY FOR KAY GAME
Temple will hold its Play4Kay Game on Feb. 15 against Cincinnati. ?The Owls will wear pink uniforms and shoes, while the Bearcats will their black away uniforms and pink shoes.
The game honors former N.C. State coach Kay Yow who passed away in 2009 after a long battle with breast cancer. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.

HONORING BETTY JAYNES
Prior to the National Anthem, Temple will honor Betty Jaynes, the first president Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), who passed away on Feb. 11 at the age of 68.?
Under Jaynes' leadership, the WBCA established itself as a leading resource, voice, and advocate for coaches of women's basketball, growing from 212 members in its first year to more than 3,000 at the time of her retirement.
Before her role at the WBCA, Jaynes served the game in many capacities— from coach to tournament director to rules and awards committee chair. Throughout her life, she impacted women's basketball in countless ways.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls, under sixth-year head coach Tonya Cardoza, stand 12-12 overall and 6-7 in American Athletic Conference play after a 60-50 loss at No. 4/3 Louisville on Feb. 12.
After 24 games, freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) is the Owls' leading scorer with 12.5 points and 4.2 assists per game. Senior Natasha Thames (Port Huron, Mich.) follows with 10.9 ppg and a team-best 7.9 rpg. Junior Tyonna Williams (Fort Washington, Md.) adds 9.6 points and a Conference-best .882 shooting from the free throw line. Senior Shi-Heria Shipp (Salisbury, N.C.) adds 9.5 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Sophomore Erica Covile (Detroit, Mich.) averages 8.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg.

The Bearcats, under the guidance of fifth-year head coach Jamelle Elliott, stand 10-14 overall and 3-10 in American play after a 465-49 win at Memphis on Feb. 12.
Senior guard Dayeesha Hollins is the Bearcats' leading scorer with 13.3 ppg and 3.3 rpg. Senior forward Jeansie Randolph follows with 11.4 ppg and 9.0 rpg.
SERIES VS. BEARCATS
This is the just the second meeting between Temple and Cincinnati in women's basketball action. Temple holds a 1-0 advantage.
