Baseball Set to Host Lehigh

Temple (5-9) is fresh off a 2-1 weekend with victories over Hartford and Saint Peter's and will look to pick up a noncoference win before starting American Athletic Conference play on Friday at Memphis.  Four players have started every game for the Owls this season with seniors leading the way.  Redshirt-senior Daniel Dragos has the highest batting average (.313) of the four players and has also drawn nine walks for a .433 on-base percentage.  Senior Derek Peterson is hitting .300 so far this season, with nine of his 15 hits going for doubles.  Senior Rob Amaro, who leads the team with 13 RBI, is hitting .292 and has a slugging percentage of .438.

Senior and co-captain Ryan Kuehn will be the starting pitcher for his first start of the season.  Kuehn has made five appearances and pitched six and two-thirds innings.  He has given up only two hits, allowing batters to hit .100 off him.  He's allowed two walks while striking out five hitters.

ABOUT LEHIGH…

Lehigh comes into this weekend with a 6-8 record and have lost three of their past four games. 

Mike Burke or Kevin Long will be the starting pitcher.  Long is 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA this season, making six appearances with two games started and also recording a save. He has given up 22 hits in 19.1 innings pitched, striking out 14 while allowing only four walks.  Burke is 0-0 with an ERA of 4.11 in three game started.  In the 15.1 innings he's pitched, he's allowed 17 hits and seven walks while striking out 15 batters.

Lehigh has six players with a batting average over .300.  Tim McKay has hit .370 with two doubles, a triple and seven RBI.  John Elson is tied for the team lead in RBI with eight, and he has .360 so far this season.  Joe Abeln leads the team with six doubles and eight RBI as well.

Temple has a 30-17-1 advantage over Lehigh, winning both games against Lehigh last season.
