Women's Track & Field Earns Eight Top-10 Finishes on Final Day of the Fred Hardy Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. - Temple women's track & field earned a total of eight top-10 finishes on the second and final day of the Fred Hardy Invitational, including a third-place finish in the 4x100m relay. Sophomore Demeshia Davis was a part of four of those eight top-10 results, with two coming in relays and another two in individual events.
Making up the relay team were Davis, freshman Jimmia McCluskey, sophomore Courtney Mitchell and freshman Bionca St. Fleur. Their third-place time of 47.39 was five-tenths better than last week, also bettering their ECAC-qualifying mark.
The 4x400m relay team of Davis along with juniors Hollis Coleman, Michelle Davis Timothy and Kaitlyn McSurdy also bettered its time from a week ago. The foursome placed fourth in a time of 3:52.93.
Junior Margo Britton earned Temple's top finish of the day, placing second in the discus with a throw of 45.32.
Davis was the top finisher among seven Owls in the 100m dash, placing sixth in a time of 12.65. McCluskey came in 10th in 12.66, while St. Fleur, Mitchell and Coleman placed 11th, 12th and 15th, respectively.
Davis shined again in the 200m, this time coming in fourth with a time of 25.39. Coleman placed 15th in that event (26.16) and McCluskey placed 20th (26.31). Sophomore Jamila Janneh, normally a jumps specialist, ran a personal-best time of 26.49 in the 200.
Fourth-place finishes also came from freshman Simone Brownlee in the 100m hurdles, just two one-hundredths off her personal-best at 15.07, and from junior Kiersten LaRoche in the long jump (5.36m).
Davis Timothy was 23rd in the 800m run, followed closely by freshman Rachel Flynn in a personal-best time of 2:25.46 to place 29th.
