Women's Gymnastics Ready to Compete in USAG Collegiate Nationals

2014 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships Central
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Temple women's gymnastics team is ready to compete in the 2014 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships at the Pizzitola Sports Center at Brown University this weekend. Eight qualifying teams and 37 individual qualifiers from five squads will gather to battle for the USAG team national title and individual event championships.
Air Force, Bridgeport, Cornell, Lindenwood, Seattle Pacific, Brown and Texas Woman's join Temple as team qualifiers, while Centenary, Penn, Southern Connecticut State, West Chester and Yale will be represented by individual gymnasts.
Team semifinal action begins on Friday with the first session kicking off at 2 p.m. and the second session commencing at 7 p.m. The top two teams from each four-team semifinal session will move on to Saturday's team finals at 7 p.m., and the top five individual gymnasts from each event, including ties, will advance to Sunday's individual event finals at 1 p.m.

GYMNASTS TO WATCH
The Owls are coming off a third place finish at the ECAC Championships, which they hosted this year.
Senior Jasmine Johnson won the floor title at ECAC Championships with a score of 9.775. Johnson became a two-time champion on floor, previously tying for first in 2011. She has recorded a season high of 9.8 in three meets this season, including the Ken Anderson Memorial Invite victory at home. She has scored at least a 9.65 on vault in her past five meets.
Junior Lauren Capone placed third on floor at ECAC Championships with a score of 9.725. Capone ended the regular season with a RQS of 9.675 on floor. She set her career highs in vault (9.825) and floor (9.8) in the last meet of the regular season at William and Mary. She has scored at least 9.5 on vault and 9.6 on floor in seven straight meets.
Senior Brittanie DeMeno ended the regular season tied for ninth on vault in ECAC with a RQS of 9.680. DeMeno set her season high of 9.75 in a quad-meet at Eastern Michigan, and has scored at least 9.7 on vault in three other meets, including the ECAC Championships
Sophomore Reagan Oliveri comes into the meet as the top performer on uneven bars with a RQS of 9.635 Oliveri has scored at least a 9.5 on bars in all but one meet. Senior Heather Zaniewski had the top score on uneven bars (9.75) on uneven bars at the ECAC Championships. Zaniewski has performed routines that have earned her at least a 9.7 in five of the past six meets.
Senior Sylvie Borschel has been outstanding on the balance beam all year for Temple, with an RQS of 9.75 that ranks her third in the ECAC. She set her season high of 9.825 at William and Mary.
Freshman Briana Odom has served as Temple's primary performer on the all-around. She has set an RQS of 37.31 and posted a season high of 38.475 at the ECAC Championships.
