Margo Britton Wins Shot Put on Final Day of Colonial Relays for Women's Track & Field

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - With her best throw so far of this outdoor season, an ECAC-qualifying mark of 14.72m, junior Margo Britton took first place in shot put for Temple women's track & field on the final day of the Colonial Relays.
Britton's performance earned 10 team points for the Owls, who also got points from their 4x400m sixth-place relay team and their 1600m sprint medley relay sixth-place team. Overall, Temple placed 17th out of 38 teams.
Juniors Michelle Davis Timothy and Hollis Coleman, along with sophomore Demeshia Davis and freshman Kenya Gaston, improved upon the relay team's best time this season by more than 10 seconds. They finished sixth in an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:49.01.
In the un-seeded women's high jump, junior Kiersten LaRoche tied for second place with a mark of 1.55m. Freshman Sydnee Jacques took fifth in the un-seeded triple jump event, while fellow freshman Simone Chapman placed 10th.
The Owls' 1600m sprint medley relay team took sixth place, comprised of Davis, Coleman, Davis Timothy and sophomore Courtney Mitchell, who ran a time of 4:07.30.
Temple will be back in action next weekend at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Miami.
