TAMPA, Fla. - Junior Matt Kacyon placed second and earned eight teams points for Temple men's track & field on day one of the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Kacyon was the only male competing for the Owls on day one, but the team will have a full slate of events on Saturday.
Kacyon's time of 9:01.83 was just over three seconds off his personal best, but beat the third-place finisher by more than eight seconds.
For his finish, Kacyon will earn All-Conference honors.
The men's team resumes competition at noon on Saturday with the javelin, and will continue with field events throughout the day, with track events scheduled to begin in the late afternoon.
