PHILADELPHIA
 – The American Athletic Conference released its 2014-15 men's basketball schedule today and Temple will open and close its second year of play in the conference against defending National Champion Connecticut.  The Owls will open conference play at the Huskies on New Year's Eve in the first of 18 league games this season.

"To open on the road against the defending champions is a great honor, but each and every game in The American will be a challenge," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "We are fortunate to play in one of the best basketball conferences in the nation, and we are looking forward to competing at the highest level this season."

This season each American Athletic Conference team will play eight member schools twice and two opponents once.  The Owls will only play Memphis on the road (Feb. 7 – ESPNews) and Houston at the Liacouras Center (Feb. 26 – CBS SN).

Once again Temple fans will be able to watch all of the Owls' conference games on national television.  Of the 31 total games on the schedule, all but three are scheduled to be televised at the time of this release.  The Owls have four games set to be televised by ESPN or ESPN2, seven games on ESPNews, two on ESPNU, six on ESPN3, six on CBS Sports Network and two on truTV.

Twenty-one of Temple's 31 games will be against opponents that competed in the postseason in 2013-14 with 14 of those contests coming against teams in the 2014 NCAA Tournament field.

The Liacouras Center will play host to 15 games starting with the home opener against American on November 14.  That is part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic which also includes a home date against Louisiana Tech (Nov. 17) and a trip to Brooklyn with a date against Duke at the Barclays Center (Nov. 21). The Owls will also take on either Stanford or UNLV the following night.

Temple will also host Kansas at the Wells Fargo Center on December 22.
