COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Temple women's indoor track & field team recorded multiple top-10 performances at the Terrapin Invitational, which was the team's first meet in over a month. The event was held all day Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex on the campus of the University of Maryland.

Head coach Elvis Forde was impressed with the effort the team put forth but said they are still in an adjustment period. "It's going to take some time for them to get back into training mode after just returning to campus from winter break," said Forde. "Once we get into a routine again I believe we will start to see some good things happen."

Temple's day was highlighted by a first-place performance from junior Jamila Janneh with a mark of 11.76m in the triple jump. In the same event, sophomore Simone Chapman and freshman Kennedi Van Eyken placed fourth (11.29m) and sixth (10.66m), respectively.

Senior Nicole Cummings took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.49m and sophomore Jimmia McCluskey finished ninth with a mark of 5.21m, both ECAC qualifying marks. Janneh and senior Kiersten LaRoche both recorded ECAC qualifying marks in the high jump, finishing fifth and eighth respectively.

TU also had strong performances in the running events. LaRoche finished third in the 60m hurdles with her ECAC qualifying time of 8.95. Senior Michelle Davis Timothy recorded a third-place finish of her own in the 400m dash in a time of 56.74, an ECAC qualifying mark. Senior Hollis Coleman also had an ECAC qualifying mark in the same event after finishing sixth in a time of 59.73.

In the 200m dash, sophomore Bionca St. Fleur finished sixth in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.19 and junior Demeshia Davis placed eighth in a time of 26.63. Sophomore Kenya Gaston finished ninth in the 300m dash with a time of 42.01.

Temple's 4x400m relay team, made up of Coleman, Davis, Davis Timothy, and Gaston, finished fourth in a time of 3:59.32, an ECAC qualifying mark. Another fourth-place finish was recorded for the Owls in the 4,000m distance medley, with an ECAC qualifying time of 12:21.24.

The Cherry and White will be back in action next weekend on Jan. 24 at the Princeton Tiger Open.
