Multiple Personal Bests Earned by Track & Field Athletes at Princeton Tiger Open

PRINCETON, N.J. - Numerous Temple athletes earned personal bests at the Princeton Tiger Open on Jan. 24 at Princeton University's Jadwin Gymnasium.Â
Junior Demeshia Davis improved her best 400m dash time by almost nine-tenths of a second with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 58.02. She was also a winner for Temple at the event, taking first in the 200m dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 25.57.Â
The Owls had multiple strong performances along with Davis in the 200m dash. Senior Hollis Coleman placed third in the event with her ECAC-qualifying and personal-best time of 25.76. Sophomores Bionca St. Fleur (25.84) and Kenya Gaston (25.97) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, with their ECAC-qualifying marks.
In the 60m dash, sophomore Jimmia McCluskey placed fourth in an ECAC-qualifying time of 7.81, also a personal best. Temple had yet another personal-best time set in the 1,000m run by sophomore Rachel Flynn finishing in 3:09.46.
Senior Kiersten LaRoche recorded a personal-best and ECAC-qualifying time of 8.92 in the 60m hurdles. Sophomore Simone Brownlee placed eighth in the same event with a mark of 9.23.
In the high jump, junior Jamila Janneh finished seventh with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 1.62m. The long jump was highlighted by St. Fleur's fourth-place distance of 5.52m, an ECAC-qualifying mark. An eighth-place finish in the triple jump was earned by sophomore Simone Chapman with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 11.29m.
To cap off an already successful day, Temple's 4x400m relay team of Davis, St. Fleur, Coleman, and Gaston took first place in the event with an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:54.36.
The Owls will be back in action for their first two-day event this indoor season next week, Jan. 30-31, at the Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va.
