Women's Tennis Falls to UCF, 6-1

ORLANDO, Fla. – The women's tennis team remains winless in conference play, as they fell to American Athletic Conference foe UCF, 6-1 on Saturday.
Doubles was a sweep for the Knights, as Sofia Baptista and Clare Mendell took a 6-2 victory at the second flight over Alina Abdurakhimova and Yana Khon, and Caroline Eberhart and Kennan Johnson defeated Anais Nussaume and Monet Stuckey-Willis at the first flight, 6-2.
Abdurakhimova scored the only point for the Owls, picking up her 12th straight-set victory at the first flight over Eberhart, 6-4, 7-6(5). While Stuckey-Willis went down at the second flight in a straight-set win for UCF's Cortney Cesarini, 6-3, 6-4, the rest of the lineup fought hard in their flights, unfortunately losing in the tiebreaker.
The Owls (11-5, 0-3 The American) will face Rollins College tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in Winter Park, Fla.
