Men's Tennis Squeaks Past Hofstra, 4-3

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The men's tennis team ended a seven-match road trip with a 4-3 victory over Hofstra on Sunday.
The Owls easily took the doubles point, with partners Ian Glessing and Maros Januvka shutting out Ari Richman and Leonardo Pires, 6-0 at the third flight. Santiago Canete and Vineet Naran clinched the win at the second flight, taking down Ricky Hendler and Stuart MacLeod, 6-1.
In singles, Hofstra quickly tied up the match as Beau Willis defeated Canete, 6-4, 6-0 at the first flight. After that, the Owls took over with three straight-set victories. Naran took a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the fifth flight over Pires, while Glessing took down MacLeod at the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-2. Hicham Belkssir locked up the win for the Owls at the third flight with a 6-3, 7-6(5) victory over Niko Vulinovich.
The Owls (8-6, 0-2 The American) return home to Legacy Tennis Courts to face crosstown rival La Salle on March 13 at 11 a.m.
