4.1.15 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA - Temple senior guard Will Cummings has been selected to play in the Reese's Division I College All-Star game, which will be played as part of the 2015 NCAA® Division I Men's Basketball Championship. The game is set for Final Four Friday®, April 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium. Reese's brand is the official candy partner of the NCAA.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native, who will also play at the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational (April 8-11), will be on the 11-man East Team that also includes Villanova seniors Darrun Hilliard and JayVaughn Pinkston.
"This is truly a great honor, and I look forward to going out and representing not only Temple University, but also the American Athletic Conference and the Philadelphia Big 5," said Cummings.
Cummings, who led the Owls in scoring (14.8 ppg), assists (4.2 apg) and steals (1.9 spg), ended his career with 1,245 points (35th all-time at TU), 357 assists and 159 steals. He also finished tied second with Hal Lear (1955-56) on Temple's single season list for free throws made with 189, 15 behind former teammate Khalif Wyatt's record 204 set during the 2012-13 season.
"Will has had a tremendous season and career here at Temple University and is so deserving of this honor," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy.
The 6-2 guard has been named first team All-American Athletic Conference and all-Philadelphia Big 5, and was instrumental in leading Temple to the nation's best turnaround. The Owls (26-11) finished their season with 17 more wins than the previous season (9-22). UC Davis had the second best turnaround at +16 wins.
The senior All-Star student-athletes were selected by member coaches of the NABC. The tape delay broadcast of the game will be aired Saturday at 1 pm EDT on CBS.
