Lacrosse Drops BIG EAST Road Game at UConn

STORRS, Conn. - UConn jumped out to an early lead and held it throughout, as the Huskies defeated Temple lacrosse 18-6 on Wednesday afternoon in Storrs. For the Owls, it was a third straight BIG EAST Conference loss and they now stand at 8-4 overall and 0-3 in league play.
UConn (8-4, 3-0) had three different players record three goals apiece in the win, including Katherine Finkelston who added two assists as well. The Huskies led 3-0 early in the game, and built a 10-2 lead by halftime. Shannon Nee made six saves in 48 minutes of goalkeeping for UConn, while Marya Fratoni made two saves after coming in off the bench.
Temple got a pair of goals from sophomore Morgan Glassford, with four other players also scoring for the Owls. Junior Megan Pinkerton scored on an assist from Kathryn Skahan just over 11 minutes into the second half to pull Temple within eight, but it was as close as the Owls would get the rest of the way.
The Huskies rattled off four straight and closed with a 5-1 run, broken up only by a Skahan free position goal with 6:41 remaining.
Junior Megan Tiernan recorded a game-high four draw controls for Temple, helping the Owls finish with a 14-12 edge in total draws.Â
Temple will return home for its next game, a noon contest against Marquette on Saturday, April 11.
