Two First-Place Finishes for Track and Field at Princeton Open

PRINCETON, N.J. - In the last meet before the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, Temple track and field earned two first-place finishes at the Princeton Open on Saturday. The Owls also set numerous personal bests on the day.
Senior Kaitlyn McSurdy placed first for TU in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 1:03.88. Another first-place finish was earned by Temple's 4x400m relay team of Hollis Coleman, Kiersten LaRoche, Demeshia Davis and Kenya Gaston with a time of 3:46.84. In the same event, Michelle Davis Timothy, Bionca St. Fleur, Imani Shell and Attallah Goodman placed fourth in 4:07.16.
Two personal bests were set in both the 100m hurdles and 400m dash. Sydnee Jacques (14.65) and LaRoche (14.66) set personal bests in the 100m hurdles, placing sixth and seventh, respectively. In the 400m dash, Gaston placed fifth with a personal-best time of 54.58 and Coleman finished eighth in 55.96, also a personal best.
In the 100m dash, Jimmia McCluskey placed sixth in 12.29 seconds and Courtney Mitchell finished with a personal-best time of 12.36, placing ninth. St. Fleur placed fifth in the 200m with a mark of 24.58. In the same event, Gaston's ninth-place time of 24.97 seconds was a personal best.Â
Louise Huuki set a personal-best in the 1500m run with a time of 5:12.50. Megan Schneider earned a personal-best time of 10:51.66 in the 3000m run.
In the 4x100m relay, McCluskey, St. Fleur, Davis Timothy and Davis placed fourth with a mark of 47.35 seconds.
In field events, four top-10 finishes were earned by the Owls. Jamila Janneh (11.75m) and Jacques (11.59m) placed sixth and seventh in the triple jump, respectively. Kennedi Van Eyken finished ninth with a personal-best distance of 11.11m. In the long jump, Shell placed 10th with a mark of 5.39m.
The Owls will have a weekend off before heading to the 2015 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in Storrs, Conn. from May 14-17.
