Three Strong Finishers Lead Men's Cross Country at the Big 5 Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Alex Izewski led a group of three strong finishers for Temple men's cross country at the Big 5 Invitational on Friday evening at Belmont Plateau. Izewski placed fifth in a field of over 70 runners from the city schools, clocking a time of 19:13.5 in the 6K race.

Senior Matt Kacyon was close behind in 10th place with a time of 19:18.1, crossing the finish line with junior Stephan Listabarth who took 11th in 19:18.2.

"We had some guys out there mixing it up near the front which is something we always encourage," said coach James Snyder. "We're training at a high level right now and we're focused on gearing up for our conference championship at the end of October and the NCAA Regional after that. To get out here on our home course for an early-season test is always fun. It's a neat event."

The group of three led the Owls to a third-place finish among the five schools. Temple had two other top-30 finishers in senior Owen Glatts (27th) and freshman Johnathan Condly (30th).

Next up for Temple is the Main Line Invite nearby at Haverford College on Friday, Sept. 18.
